By Bunaken Island Editorial Desk
Contact Bunaken Island Guide by WhatsApp on +62 811-3941-4563 or by email at bd@juaraholding.com. Those are the only two channels. Tell the desk your dates, group size, where you land and what you want to do. Nothing is reserved or binding until you agree a written offer.
How do you contact Bunaken Island Guide, and what can you ask?
Write to either channel, in whichever suits you. WhatsApp is handy for short questions from your phone, and email is better for a long trip outline or a correction with links. There is no office to visit and no other number, so treat anyone claiming to represent this site through a different channel with suspicion.
This site is a specialist travel guide under Juara Holding Group, with a request desk attached. It is not a resort, dive centre, tour operator, airline or government body, and the about page explains how it is put together. You can ask the desk about:
- Whether a route or a timing makes sense, such as landing at Manado and crossing the same day.
- How to weigh Bunaken, Siladen and Manado as a base for your particular trip.
- What to ask a dive centre, a resort or a boat crew before you pay them.
- What a page on this site means, or where a figure came from.
- A request for a trip, which may lead to a written offer.
The desk cannot give medical, legal or visa rulings, and it cannot promise weather, sea conditions or wildlife. It is also not an emergency line. If someone is hurt or in danger, go straight to local emergency services, your resort and your insurer.
What details help us answer faster?
Most slow exchanges come from missing basics. A first message that covers the points below usually saves a round of questions.
| Detail | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Dates, and how flexible they are | Season advice and boat options depend on them |
| Flight number or landing time at Manado | Decides whether a same-day crossing is realistic |
| Number of people, with ages if children are coming | Affects rooms and boats. No source here rates Bunaken for children. |
| Dive certification, dive count, last dive | Currents make some sites unsuitable for newer divers |
| Swimming confidence, for non-divers | Helps the desk say what to ask a provider |
| Rough spending level, in your own terms | Stops the desk suggesting options you would never pick |
| What you have already booked | Avoids advice that clashes with it |
Landing time matters more than people expect. Wikipedia places Sam Ratulangi International Airport (MDC) 13 km north-east of Manado, so you have a road leg before any boat, and a late arrival changes the plan. Our page on getting from Manado to Bunaken shows how the crossing options differ.
A useful first message can be as short as this made-up example:
Two adults, mid-June, about six nights in North Sulawesi. We land at Manado around midday. One of us is Open Water with about 20 dives, the other snorkels and is a confident swimmer. We would like to sleep on an island, mid-range, and have not booked anything. Does that plan work, and what should we watch for?
Ask one main question per message if you can, and say which is the one that matters most. If your question is about a page on this site, paste the link. Write in plain sentences. There is no form to fill in and no required format.
What should you leave out of your first message?
An opening question needs none of the following, so please keep them out of the chat or email:
- Passport scans or numbers, national ID details or visa documents.
- Bank or card numbers, security codes, one-time passwords or login details of any kind.
- Medical records or detailed health history. If a condition affects your trip, a general line is enough at this stage, and your doctor is the right person for the detail.
- Personal details of fellow travellers beyond their ages and experience.
If a later step really does need an identity detail, you should be told in writing who needs it and why, and you can ask how it will be passed on. Do not send money on the strength of a chat message. A real next step has a written offer behind it.
What happens after you write?
- The desk reads your message and may come back with a question or two where something is missing.
- You get an answer or a pointer to the relevant page and its sources. Some questions end here, which is fine.
- If you asked about arranging a trip, the desk may look into what is possible with the providers concerned. Until something is confirmed in writing, assume nothing is held for you.
- If it can go further, you receive a written offer.
- You decide. Silence is not agreement, and you can stop at any point before you accept.
The site publishes no response time, so do not leave a request to the last minute. Keep your own bookings moving if your dates are close.
What should you check for yourself?
Some things are yours to confirm, whatever anyone tells you. These are the ones that catch travellers out, with the source for each.
| Item | What is published | Who says so | What to do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Visa | Visa on Arrival allows up to 30 days, extendable once to a 60-day total | Immigration directorate | Check eligibility for your nationality |
| Park entry basis | Portal says per day for Indonesian visitors and per visit for foreign visitors; the national tariff table says per day | Park booking portal; national tariff table | Ask at the ticket point or your operator |
| Crossing time | Around 40 minutes from Manado; other sources differ | Tourism ministry site | Leave spare time on travel days |
| Recompression chamber | In Manado, under 2 hours from one resort, by that resort's account | Siladen Resort | Ask your insurer and dive operator |
You can read those rows at the immigration directorate, the park booking portal, the tourism ministry site and Siladen Resort. Cash and drinking water are covered in our where to stay guide. The fee question has its own page, on the Bunaken entrance fee. If you are choosing between resorts, the North Sulawesi Watersports Association lists member resorts, including Bunaken Oasis and Siladen Resort. It is a trade body's list, so membership tells you who belongs, and is no rating of quality.
How do offers work?
Requests through the desk can lead to a paid booking, so we have a commercial interest, and you should read our suggestions knowing that. Any fee, the price, and the company that contracts with you are stated in writing in an offer before you agree to anything. The site itself is not the contracting party. Only that written offer binds anyone; a chat message saying a boat or a room looks fine does not.
Before you accept, read the offer for these points:
- The name of the company you are contracting with.
- The total price, any fee, and what each covers.
- Whether boat transfers and the park entry fee are included.
- Dates, room type and any diving or boat services in specific terms.
- How and when you pay, and what happens if you cancel or the sea stops you travelling.
Compare it with what you have read elsewhere, including our guide on where to stay in Bunaken. Ask about anything that is vague. If the answers do not satisfy you, walk away, as you owe nothing for asking.
How do you report a fact that looks wrong?
Fees, boat times and operator details change, and published sources often disagree, so corrections are welcome. A useful report has four parts: the page address, the exact sentence, what you believe is correct, and a link or a dated observation that supports it. An official page or a current notice from the provider carries the most weight. A recent first-hand report is also welcome, and tell us the date you saw it.
Corrections are checked against sources before a page changes, so a report may not lead to an immediate edit. Where two reliable sources conflict, we state both and do not pick one silently, so you may see your point added beside an existing figure. Please also tell us when a business has closed or a link has gone dead, as those are easy to miss.
What else do people ask the desk?
How do I ask about a Bunaken trip?
Send your dates, group size, landing time and main goal by WhatsApp or email. A few plain sentences are enough. There is no form, and asking commits you to nothing.
Where can I ask about Bunaken travel?
Here, through the two channels on this page, or through the provider itself when a question concerns one boat, resort or dive centre. For park rules and fees, the official park portal is the first place to check.
Is the desk part of the national park?
No. This is a travel guide with a request desk, under Juara Holding Group. It has no authority over park rules, fees, permits or patrols.
Can the desk confirm a boat or a room by chat?
Treat a chat message as information only. A boat or a room is settled only once a written offer names the company, the price and the terms, and you have accepted it.
